Yasin Valley

Best time to visit Yasin Valley

The time between April-October is the best time for a visit to Yasin Valley. However, out of this time, you will face cold weather and harsh weather too. I visited in the mid of May, and this valley was green everywhere with snow-capped mountains. Still, there was cold at night, but the temperature in the daytime was perfect. Therefore, I also suggest July-August is the ideal time to visit Yasin valley.Because you will also enjoy the fruits and fishing over there in this time. Disadvantage: During these days there is a huge flux of local tourists from across Pakistan.

From Gilgit to Yasin

A local Hiece service is the best option. You have to book a ticket from near Gahdi bagh under the bridge known as Shajee Ada on river view road. Vehicles leave every hour between 10 am to 5 pm. The ticket costs just 500 rupees. Once you are on the Hiace van, it takes 2 hours to reach Gahkuch, and there you have rest for tea, and then the journey again begins, and after 2 hours you will get Yasin Valley(central Yasin). So it takes four and half hours to reach Yasin by local transport. But in return to Gilgit, the vehicles are leaving early at 5 am. So you have also take care of it return.

Weather at Yasin Valley

Also, it gets cold pretty quickly.

The weather at Yasin Valley stays below 30 0 Celsius all year round even in the peak summer season May to October. The weather sometimes drops to 15 0 Celsius when it rains so a jacket and warm clothing are a must.

After October the temperature drops close to 10 Celsius and becomes uncomfortable as you need a lot of gas and firewood to stay warm.

Check the weather before leaving for Gilgit as even in the peak summer season the snow is enough to block traffic for a few days.

The Yasin Valley, and in particular the character it produced, has played a leading role in the history of the region. Continually fought over by the rulers of both Chitral and Gilgit, the history of Yasin reads like a catalogue of patricide, fratricide and aunculicide. Yasin Valley came to the attention of Victorian Britain following the murder of the British explorer George W. Hayward in the upper reaches of the Valley.

In Yasin Taus, there are many hotels and Guesthouses you can easily find accommodation over there. But all these hotels and guest houses have limited resources but are budget-friendly, and the food they are serving is organic. But the cost may vary with the demand of tourists

Go to Moudori Fort

Moudori Fort is a historical place in Dalsandi; there is an old fort from where the downside of Yasin is on birds-eye view. Ask about the history of the Fort from local people and take some good pictures. From taus, it just takes 30 minutes on the bike. We went on the bike. From there, you witness the greenery of Yasin Valley. Qurqolty and Phander are also visible from there. The view is just amazing.

Short hikes and village walks

Walkthrough a village through the streets; you will chit-chat with people in fields, offering you to sit with them and have some fun. There are tracks to hike on mountains in taus sand and Gojalti where shepherds take their goats and sheep for grassing.

Day trip to Darkut

Darkut is the last village of this valley. From taus, it takes 1.30 hours to reach there. There are many big bib stones. But there are small lakes when you take up the side of the Darkut. So it has one plan greenery and is popular for its lakes and river. Traveling from taus to Darkut you come across any beautiful places.

Sangum Point Barandass

This was a very lovely place in the entire Yasin. This is my favorite. This is the point where the Thoi river and Darkut river meet. There is a small cabin for refreshment, and a book and pen are installed by a local artist.Sit there near Thoi river and enjoy the music of the river. We sat there for almost 4 hours. I enjoyed the tea, and it just cost 40 Rs per cup and biscuits are also available.
