Which English tests for language are acceptable?

Important note: a lot the courses we offer are accessible via digital learning. Since you don’t require an entry visa to study online and we take a wider variety of English tests for courses that are studied this manner. We invite you to read our FAQs for further details.

If you need a visa to study in the UK and don’t have nationality for a majority-English-speaking country, or hold a degree taught in English or from a majority-English-speaking country, you will need to satisfy the UKVI (UK Visas and Immigration) English language requirement. This can be accomplished by taking an approved Secure English Language Test (SELT) at a test center that is approved by the UKVI center, and achieving the necessary English minimum of 2 years before receiving an confirmation of acceptance for studies (Confirmation of Acceptance for Study) for your course of study.

Find out which tests we take for students who plan to study at our institution in the UK student visa including Language Cert SELT, IELTS for UKVI, and the PTE Academic for UKVI.

A proof of English language proficiency is necessary for you to get the visa you need: learn more about this on our UK visa information page.
